Liberty in Action

National Liberty Museum

Liberty comes to life at the National Liberty Museum, located in the heart of Philadelphia’s Old City, where past ideals empower the achievements of today, tomorrow, and beyond.

Over four floors of permanent galleries and changing exhibitions, we explore the meaning of liberty today through contemporary art and the stories of real people from around the world who have done extraordinary things in the name of freedom.

“I raise up my voice—not so I can shout but so that those without a voice can be heard. We cannot succeed when half of us are held back.” ―Malala Yousafzai
