From “Black Panther” to “Storm,” Black superheroes are a staple in the comic book world. What characteristics make Black heroes super? How do they inspire real life heroes? In this all-ages event, we answer these questions with comic experts from the renowned Amalgam Comics and Coffeehouse, a Black-owned comic book store and café. Throughout the event, drop in to self-facilitated art activities such as cape and mask decorating, button-making, and coloring pages.
1-2PM & 2:30-3:30PM, Arielle from Amalgam will show her favorite Black comic book heroes and their impact. Then, learn about real-life Black heroes featured at the National Liberty Museum and participate in a Build-A-Comic Book Workshop with your new knowledge of heroic qualities.
