Join us to read Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Peña and learn what it means to have empathy for your friends, family, and community. Together, learners and their families will make their own Sense-o-scope, practice retelling a story, and make a bus that features “beauty where you never thought to look.” Suitable for children ages 3-8 and their grown-ups.
Big Ideas for Little Learners is a literacy program for pre-schoolers and their families. Developed in partnership with the Early Childhood Education Center at the Salvation army Kroc Center, this program introduces “big ideas” — such as respect, empathy, courage — to our littlest learners.
Big Ideas for Little Learners takes place monthly at the Kroc Center and explores book-based themes with children and their caregivers. We’ll read, create, and play together as we learn new ways of exploring books at home and as a family. Along the way, we’ll discover how each of us can help make the world a happier, more just, and equitable place.
It is free to register and participate in this series. All programs include a read-aloud, hands-on activities, a reading corner, and refreshments. All participating families will receive a custom Take & Do bag with materials and resources to continue learning at home.
