NLM at Night is officially back for 2022 with music, libations, and the pursuit of happiness! In honor of Black History Month, savor the historic yet timeless music of the Sound of Philadelphia and learn about notable Black voices in music. Enjoy the soulful sounds with DJ and WXPN radio host, John Morrison and founder of Vinyl Tap 215, DJ DuiJi 13. Get a first look at artwork honoring the 50-year legacy of the Sound of Philadelphia by local artist, Shanina Dionna. Throughout the evening, enjoy refreshing drinks and music, artist talks and our newest exhibition, Deconstructing Bowie.
Based in Philadelphia, DuiJi 13 has transformed the role of the DJ from entertainer to a community asset, earning the title of “Cultural Architect.” He is a founding member of the Sofistifunk and Vinyl Tap 215 DJ collectives. DuiJi’s experiences as a spoken word artist and event organizer have aided in his evolution from performer to curator to community pillar. Rocking block parties, weddings, gardens, and clubs, he finds a way to give people what they love. DuiJi’s eclectic style draws all people while showing us the sacredness of our inherent connections.
